I'm getting an "external JavaScript is blocked or failed to load" error

What you might see

As you browse the web, you may encounter a page that shows you an error like this:

Local CDN error example on superuser.com

What does that error mean?

The page you're visiting needs some web code that it can't find in AdBlock's locally stored copy of common JavaScript libraries.

What should I do?

You have two choices: pause AdBlock or turn off local content caching. Learn more about local content caching in AdBlock.

Pause AdBlock

The quickest solution is to pause AdBlock. Remember to resume when you leave.

  • Click the AdBlock icon in the browser toolbar and select Pause AdBlock.

Turn off local content caching

Local content caching is an optional feature. If you don't want to see ads on the site, turn off the setting in AdBlock's options. Remember to turn the setting on again when you leave.

  1. Click the AdBlock icon in the browser toolbar and select Options.
  2. On the GENERAL tab, clear the checkbox next to Enable local content caching for popular website libraries.
