A site still asks me to turn off AdBlock although it's allowlisted or AdBlock is paused

If you have paused or disabled AdBlock or allowlisted the website, then one of two things is happening:

  1. Something else on your computer is causing the test to fail or not to run at all.
  2. The test the site is using to detect ad blockers is generating a false positive (less likely).

Here are some troubleshooting steps to try.

1. Clear the site's cookies and reload the page.

2. If you use Firefox, make sure you are not in a Private Browsing window. (If you're using Chrome or Edge, make sure AdBlock is enabled in incognito or private mode)

3. Look for an extension that is preventing JavaScript from running, hiding ads, or blocking trackers and cookies, such as NoScript, other ad blockers, Kaspersky Anti-Banner, Ghostery, PrivacyBadger, or Disconnect.

  • In Chrome or Opera, enter about:extensions in the address bar.
  • In Safari, go to Safari > Preferences > Extensions (or look in the Launchpad for an ad blocking app).
  • In Edge, click More (...) > Extensions.
  • In Firefox, enter about:addons in the address bar.

4. Make sure JavaScript is enabled in your browser.

If these suggestions don't help, there may be a problem with the test itself. In that case, all you can do is report it to the site administrators and hope for the best!
