According to this post on the EasyList forum, confirmed by us, the following filter blocks the promoted tweets in your feed on Twitter.com.


  1. Click the AdBlock button and select Options, then click the CUSTOMIZE tab.
  2. Click Edit to open the custom filters box.
  3. Paste the filter below exactly as given.
  4. Click Save.
  5. Reload the page you're trying to view.



Copy this filter:


twitter.com##.tweet[data-card2-type="promo_website"]


If it doesn't help, clear your browser cache and cookies, reset your browser settings, and make sure your browser is up-to-date.


Updated September 30, 2016:

If the above filter isn't working for you, a helpful user told us about a Chrome extension called Remove Promotions for Twitter that does what it says on the tin. (Thanks, Kathy!)


We haven't found an equivalent for Safari. If you know of one, please tell us in the feedback for this article! Opera users, install the Chrome extension. Firefox users, try Bad Bird Blocker.
