In certain browsers, you can use AdBlock's resource page to see all the requests a website makes and how AdBlock deals with them. The resource page is only available if you use Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Firefox, or Opera. This feature is not available in AdBlock for Safari.

A "resource" is anything a website requests to download to your browser, such as an ad, an image, a script, a styling element, or a tracker.

In some browsers, this is one of AdBlock's advanced features. If you don't see "Show all requests" on the AdBlock menu, enable AdBlock's advanced user mode to gain access to the resource page.

  1. Click the AdBlock button on the browser toolbar.
  2. On the GENERAL tab, select I'm an advanced user, show me advanced options.
  3. Go back to the page whose resources you want to see.
  4. Click the AdBlock button again and select Show all requests.

Chrome

  1. Right-click the web page you want to check and select Inspect. The Developer Tools window opens.
  2. Click the AdBlock tab. It might be hidden in the overflow menu (>>) if some of the tabs aren't displayed.
  3. Reload the web page.
  4. Use the Show menu to display only blocked (blacklisted) or allowed (whitelisted) resources and to limit the results to certain kinds of resources if needed.
  5. When you're finished, click the "x" in the upper right corner to close the Developer Tools window.

Use the resource list to create a custom filter

In Chrome, you can use the resource list to create an exception rule for a resource that a filter list has whitelisted or to create a blacklist rule for a resource that a filter list has whitelisted.

As you move your cursor through the list of resources, you'll see a Block Item, Add Exception, or Remove Rule bubble appear in the Filter column. Click the bubble that corresponds to what you want to do to that resource:
  • Click Block Item, then Add Exception to create a custom blacklist rule that blocks that resource from downloading.
  • Click Add Exception to create a whitelist rule that allows a blocked resource to download.
  • Click Remove Rule to delete a custom filter rule you created.

After you close the Developer Tools window, you can delete any rules you created from your custom filters in AdBlock's options, CUSTOMIZE tab.)
