You can whitelist all of YouTube with two clicks. You can also choose to allow ads on just the channels you want to support. Please note, YouTube channel whitelisting is not available if you have enabled Safari Content Blocking.

Allow ads everywhere on YouTube

  • On any YouTube.com page, click the AdBlock button and select Don't run on pages on this domain.

Allow ads only on specific YouTube channels

  1. On the GENERAL tab, select Allow whitelisting of specific YouTube channels.
  2. Restart your browser. Don't skip this step!
  3. Visit a YouTube channel or a video in that channel.
  4. Click the AdBlock button and select Whitelist (the channel's name) channel.

If you change your mind, you can prevent ads from showing on a whitelisted channel. Just visit the channel page, click the AdBlock button, and select Enable AdBlock on this page.

Automatically whitelist all subscribed YouTube channels

If you use Microsoft Edge and Firefox, you can automatically whitelist every YouTube channel you've subscribed to. (We plan to add this feature to AdBlock for Chrome and Safari in a future release.)

  1. Click the AdBlock button and select Options
  2. On the GENERAL tab, select Allow whitelisting of specific YouTube channels if it isn't already enabled.
  3. Restart your browser. Don't skip this step!
  4. Visit https://www.youtube.com/feed/subscriptions. (Note, you must be signed in to your YouTube account for this to work.)
  5. Click the AdBlock button and select Whitelist all subscribed YouTube channels.

I don't see "Whitelist (the channel's name) channel" in the AdBlock menu

If you're using Safari, make sure that Safari Content Blocking is disabled in AdBlock's options. With this feature enabled, YouTube channel whitelisting isn't available.

Make sure to restart your browser after enabling YouTube channel whitelisting in AdBlock's options. Otherwise, your browser won't "recognize" the new feature.

If that doesn't help, clearing your browser cache and restarting your browser should do the trick.

I don't see "Allow whitelisting of specific YouTube channels" in AdBlock's options

If you're using Safari, make sure that Safari Content Blocking is disabled in AdBlock's options. With this feature enabled, YouTube channel whitelisting isn't available.

Make sure that you're using AdBlock and not Adblock Plus (ABP) or some other ad blocker. Only AdBlock provides YouTube channel whitelisting.

Next, try clearing your browser cache and restarting your browser.

If you still don't see the option to whitelist specific YouTube channels, you may be using an older version of AdBlock. AdBlock should update automatically, but if you have extension auto-update turned off, it might not. Manually update AdBlock.

We know of an extension called YouTube Magic Actions that breaks YouTube channel whitelisting. This has been reported to the extension's developer. We'll update this article if anything changes!

If you don't have YouTube Magic Actions, check your extensions for other possible incompatibilities by disabling all of them (except for AdBlock). Allow whitelisting of specific YouTube channels should again appear in AdBlock's options on the GENERAL tab. Re-enable each extension one by one until the option disappears again. The last extension you re-enabled is the culprit. Disable it for now, and be a good citizen by reporting the issue to the extension's developer. :)
