Filter lists are updated automatically on a schedule set by the list authors. If a web page suddenly isn't working or doesn't look right, it might be caused by a broken filter in a recent list update. If you're seeing ads, your filter lists might be out of date. In either case, manually updating your filter lists is a good first step in troubleshooting.

Desktop (Windows, Mac, Linux)

  1. Click the AdBlock button in the browser toolbar, then select Options.
  2. On the FILTER LISTS tab, click update now.
  3. Wait for all the lists to update.
  4. Restart your computer.*

iOS (iPhone, iPad)

  1. Open AdBlock and click Update Filter Lists.
  2. Restart your device.*

Android (Samsung Internet)

  • There's no way to specifically update the filter lists. Do be sure that if Configure automatic updates is set to On Wi-Fi only that you connect to a wireless network at least once a week to get the latest filter list and app releases.*

If that doesn't clear up the trouble, please

*OK, we confess, you don't need to restart your computer or mobile device to update your filter lists. It's just a good idea to restart computers and mobile devices every once in a while. Most people don't do this often enough, so why not do it right now while you're thinking about it? We bet you'll sleep better tonight.
