Adblock not blocking youtube ads

I've been a user of Adblock for a few years now and I've never had a problem with it.

But recently ads are popping on youtube and they aren't skippable.

It's usually 30 seconds but it can go up to 3 minutes.
I've seen similar cases on the forum and on tweeter, it's very recent.

So I made a search and found out that Google punished adblocking extensions users by bypassing Adblock completely.

The only solution I found for now is to continually refresh until the video starts without ads. It's really annoying and I hope you could solve this soon.

I've already tried all the helps you give on the web site.

  • Hi Imran,

If you're watching YouTube videos in Safari with AdBlock (either our old extension or our new-ish Mac app), then YouTube videos will not be blocked as well as in other browsers. That's because the way Apple requires us to block ads now just doesn't handle YouTube (and Facebook) ads well.

If you're using Chrome, Firefox, or Microsoft Edge, however, ads should be blocked in YouTube videos. The article you link to is from 2015 and it refers to a bug identified in Chrome. Uninstalling the YouTube Chrome app fixes it. If you've tried that and all the other suggestions we offer in this article, then refreshing the video may be your best solution.

    Warm regards,
